COUGAR MAMA
She may be an aging cougar
But she’s fiercely on the prowl
She is also called “Mountain Screamer”
In the land where the coyote howl
With the kittens grown and gone
She maintains her precious den
Reclusive and territorial
She safeguards, alone once again
Tough and taunting she stalks
Avoid becoming her foolish prey
Best to roll over and play dead
She will retract her claws and go away
Cougars are born blind
Over time acquiring strength and grace
Crepuscular in nature…
The night seems to glide with the chase
Cougars can paw your heart tenderly
One day you will long for this dying bread
When you finally find out her true worth
On your love she will freely feed
